Heritage of Malaysia: 2009 National Heritage Register Released

The Minister of Unity, Culture, Arts, and Heritage declared 173 items as National Heritage in a ceremony held at the Victoria Institution, Kuala Lumpur.
At the ceremony, the Minister in his speech said that “the declaration is to create awareness in society on the importance of preserving the national heritage to be appreciated by the next generation.”
The Ministry’s list is as follows:
Heritage Sites:
1. MCKK – Big School, Kuala Kangsar
2. UPSI – Suluh Budiman Building, Tanjung Malim
3. Kuil Sri Poyyatha Vinayagar Moorthi, Melaka
4. Masjid Kampung Kling, Melaka
5. Muzium Perak, Taiping
6. Victoria Institution, Kuala Lumpur
7. University Malaya – Dewan Tunku Canselor, Experimental Theatre & Chancellory Building, Kuala Lumpur
8. Stadhuys, Melaka
9. Christ Church, Melaka
10. Istana Lama Seri Menanti, Kuala Pilah
11. Masjid Jamek, Kuala Lumpur
12. Masjid Kampung Hulu, Melaka
13. Stadium Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur

1. Bukit Jawa, Lenggong, Perak
2. Gua Gunung Runtuh, Bukit Kepala Gajah, Perak
